ERODE: Returning officer and sub-collector S Sivanandham on Tuesday accepted TVK candidate K A Sengottaiyan’s nomination in Gobichettipalayam assembly constituency after keeping it pending during scrutiny due to objections raised by AIADMK representatives.
The objections were that his affidavit’s notary attestation was invalid because notary public G P Dharmaraja's licence had expired and that details of a residential property under construction were allegedly not disclosed fully in the assets declaration.
The returning officer asked Sengottaiyan and his legal team to provide explanations and supporting documents before a final decision was taken on whether to accept or reject the nomination.
"The notary public finally produced his term renewal letter to the RO after which he accepted the nomination," Erode district election officer and collector S Kandasamy told TOI. He added that Sengottaiyan’s legal team had given explanations to the other objections raised.
