Residents block road over water supply
Coimbatore: More than 50 residents of Agrahara Samakulam with empty pots in their hands staged a protest by blocking Kovilpalayam-Veerapandi Pirivu road at Thottipalayam on Saturday morning.
The protesters alleged that drinking water was not supplied to their area for over a month.
R Ranjith, one of the protesters, said, “The ward-1 of Agrahara Samakulam has been facing the issue for a month now.

More than 110 families are residing here.”
He said the problem started last month when a pipeline used for supplying drinking water broke. The drinking water was not supplied even after the pipeline was repaired.
“When we raised the issue with the officials concerned, they said the water could not be pumped to the overhead tank due to some problem,” he said. The protesters blocked the road for over two and a half hours. They dispersed after the Kovilpalayam police and officials assured them that the issue would be resolved soon.

The affected areas include Mahalakshmi Layout, JC Nagar, Sri Ram Nagar, Mico Layout, and many others. The repair work will impact a wide range of residential and industrial areas in the city.
