Residents block road over water supply

Coimbatore: More than 50 residents of Agrahara Samakulam with empty pots in their hands staged a protest by blocking Kovilpalayam-Veerapandi Pirivu road at Thottipalayam on Saturday morning. The protesters alleged that drinking water was not supplied to their area for over a month. R Ranjith, one of the protesters, said, “The ward-1 of Agrahara Samakulam has been facing the issue for a month now. More than 110 families are residing here.”He said the problem started last month when a pipeline used for supplying drinking water broke. The drinking water was not supplied even after the pipeline was repaired.“When we raised the issue with the officials concerned, they said the water could not be pumped to the overhead tank due to some problem,” he said. The protesters blocked the road for over two and a half hours. They dispersed after the Kovilpalayam police and officials assured them that the issue would be resolved soon.

Water supply boosted in 10 areas of twin cities

Residents in several areas of Hubballi and Dharwad in India are benefiting from improved water supply. Four areas in Hubballi now receive daily drinking water, while three areas receive water once every five days. In Dharwad, three areas now receive water once every three days, instead of every six days. Efforts to reduce damages and technical glitches have contributed to this improvement. The goal is to expand the 24x7 water supply to more areas in the future.

Heavy rain hits water supply in Dholpur

Water supply in Dholpur, Rajasthan, has been disrupted for the past few days due to power supply issues caused by heavy rainfall. The Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) faced difficulties operating the pumps due to a problem with the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) power supply. However, the situation started to improve on Tuesday afternoon and normalcy is expected to be restored by Wednesday. Despite the disruption, water consumption was not significantly affected as there were local facilities such as handpumps available in the area.

Water supply to be affected in southwest Bengaluru tomorrow

Water supply will be disrupted in several localities of southwest Bengaluru on Wednesday due to repair work near Chandra Layout. The affected areas include Mahalakshmi Layout, JC Nagar, Sri Ram Nagar, Mico Layout, and many others. The repair work will impact a wide range of residential and industrial areas in the city.
