The women hailing from the Rayagada district in Odisha were allegedly forced to work after their three-month internship without salary by the management of the garment factory. The women arrived at the garment company in December 2020.

The parents of the women approached the Rayagada district authorities who contacted Tirupur city police commissioner G Karthikeyan. With the help of other departments, the 19 women were rescued from the garment company on Sunday and they were kept in a marriage hall.

The women were sent by train from Tirupur to their hometown on Monday. tnn
