Report sought on water project

Coimbatore: Minister for municipal administration K N Nehru on Tuesday sought a report from the city corporation on the progress made by Suez, a French company, implementing the 24x7 drinking water project. This comes following a TOI report highlighting the slow progress of the project. The TOI report published on Tuesday highlighted that none of the 32 overhead tanks proposed under the project has been completed and only 40% of the project work has been completed in the past four years.A corporation official said commissioner M Prathap would submit the report at the earliest. The official said Suez has been waiting for permission from various authorities such as highways and railways to lay pipelines. tnn
