Pvt Neet centre halts classes; aspirants seek dist admin help

Coimbatore: Around 15 medical aspirants who were undergoing training at a private Neet coaching centre at RS Puram in the city have sought help from the district administration after the centre suddenly stopped taking classes. The students along with their parents submitted a petition to collector K Rajamani on Monday on this regard.

M I Sumaya, one of the petitioners, said, when she approached the centre in May, the management informed me that they had closed the admission for the first batch and I could be admitted only in the second batch. “Besides, I was reluctant to join the centre initially, as I felt the fee was high. The management said the fee was Rs 95,000. But, they had immediately reduced the amount to Rs 55,000 and said they would give 50% discount if we are ready to pay the fee within a few days, which we did.”

She said everything was fine but for the past ten days. “Ten days ago, the centre started declaring holidays without any reason. For the first few days, they said the electricity board had announced shutdown in the area. But it was not true,” Sumaya said.

Sumaya’s father S Mohammed Ismail said that they found out that the electricity board had disconnected power to the building as the management had not paid the electricity bill, which was close to Rs 40,000. “Besides, the building owner on Monday asked our children to leave the building as he was going to close it due to non-payment of rent,” Ismail said.

The management should either have to resume the classes or return our money, the petitioners mentioned in the petition. The district collector has assured to look into the issue.
