Coimbatore: A 10-member delegation of major industrial associations in the district is planning to meet Union ministers in New Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday to submit fresh representations to control the spiralling prices of raw materials.

Piyush Goyal (commerce and industry) to explain how the abnormal price hike of raw materials has affected the business.”
It is to be noted the industry associations in the district had tried all ways, including protests, to get the attention of the Union government to control the raw material prices, which have shot up by more than 100% in recent times. They had urged the Centre to constitute a price monitoring committee as well to bring the situation under control.

, Institute of Indian Foundrymen, Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Micro Enterprises, Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, Coimbatore Tirupur Districts Micro and Cottage Entrepreneurs Association and Laghu Udyog Bharati, would stay at the Tamil Nadu House.
K V Karthik, president, Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, said the raw material price hike had left the industry in tatters. “We have been representing the issue with the Union government for the past two years without any favourable reply. Hence, we have decided to submit fresh demands before the Union ministers.”
