COIMBATORE: V Veerasamy, the main accused in the Pollachi rape case of two minors, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment in connection with two robbery cases registered against him in his home town Valparai in Coimbatore district.
Valparai judicial magistrate court also imposed a penalty of 2000 on Thursday. An additional 4-month jail term will be imposed on Veerasamy if he fails to pay the court ordered penalty.
Veerasamy was arrested in 2011 in connection with two separate incidents and the court sentenced him to two years imprisonment in both cases to be served separately taking the total jail term to four years.
Veerasamy had burgled 1.5 sovereign gold chain from a residence in Kakkan colony and also stole two mobile phones from a Tasmac outlet in Valparai town. Both cases were reported on July 3, 2011 and Veerasamy was arrested on July 5, 2011. He was out on bail and was working at a roadside eatery in Pollachi when he was accused and arrested in connection with the rape of two minor girls at TELC home for children near Pollachi bus stand last month.
