COIMABATORE: West zone inspector general of police (IGP) A Pari held a meeting with superintendents of police of eight districts on Friday in connection with preparations on security measures for Independence Day and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Various Muslim outfits were invited for a meeting at the office of the commissioner of police on Thursday evening and DCP Lakshmi addressed them. She requested Muslim outfits to cooperate with the city police during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.

The police officials also conducted meeting with Hindu Munnani, BJP and Indu Makkal Katchi. Police officials requested them to keep Ganesh idols in the allotted place and they have to get prior permission to install statue from the police department. The procession for immerse the lord Ganesh idols should be started on time and completed without any problems.

The police also plan to deploy around 1,500 police personnel in the city.
