COIMBATORE: Two men, who murdered a 24-year-old man at Thudiyalur on Sunday night were arrested within six hours after the incident took place.
T Raman, who was returning home after work, was stabbed by S Nandagopal, 24, near Neeliamman Kovil Veethi at Thudiyalur. His accomplice, A Deepak Kumar, 21, was also arrested after a few hours. Both accused are residents of Vinayakapuram in Sarvanampatti.
Nandagopal was in a relationship with a woman named Krithika, a divorcee who lived with her three-year-old daughter.
When Nandagopal realized that T Raman, a resident of Velandipalayam who worked as a cleaner in a private firm, was also having an affair with Krithika, he confronted him. An argument ensued during which Nandagopal stabbed Raman. The incident took place at 9:30pm.
He was rushed to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police reached the spot at 11pm and conducted preliminary investigations. Three teams were formed under the deputy superintendent of police of Karumathampatty, Perur and Periyanaickenpalayam.
"Nandagopal was arrested at 5:30am on Monday morning and within few hours, his accomplice Deepak was also arrested," said M Sudhakar, superintendent of police.
Thudiyalur police registered a murder case against the duo and they have been remanded to judicial custody.
