PAC recommends fund allotment to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for maintenance and repair work
COIMBATORE: Chairman of the public accounts committee of Tamil Nadu assembly K Selvaperunthagai said the committee has recommended fund allocation to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) as it requires improvement in basic amenities.
The public accounts committee conducted an inspection in CMCH on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters, Selvaperunthagai said, “The hospital requires maintenance and repairs. The state government should provide the funds required for the works. Coimbatore is an important place in the state. Most of the people from the district are visiting the hospital for treatment. More funds should be allotted to revamp the hospital. and improve basic facilities. We have made our recommendations.”
He said Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation issued an MRI scan equipment to CMCH in 2018. An audit report states that the equipment was not installed within the requisite time of 90 days. However, the hospital authorities during the interaction on Wednesday told the committee that they had installed it within the time frame. The committee will come to a conclusion after a review meeting to be held in the city on Thursday.
