COIMBATORE: The rural police arrested a notorious two-wheeler thief on Sunday and recovered 20 motorcycles from him.
The accused, N Karthi, 38, a native of
Tiruchengode
in
Namakkal district
, has been residing at Bangalamedu in Mettupalayam, police sources said. “He was involved in several bike thefts in Annur, Avinashi in Tirupur district and
Erode district
. He had stolen the motorcycle of V Vishal of Krishnapuram in Singanallur from
Naranapuram
on Annur – Thennampalayam Road on May 7. On June 8, he rode away the motorcycle of L Karuppasamy of Neelagoundenpudur from Manneswarar temple at Annur. He stole the two-wheeler of P Vinothkumar of Nagammapudur near Annur on June 1. On May 26, he stole the motorcycle of A Vijayakumar, of Samalapuram from Annur – Coimbatore Road,” a police officer said.
Karthi had also waylaid K Muthukumar of Annur on June 16 and robbed him of Rs 2,000 a wristwatch, the officer added.
