City corporation schools will soon have smart classrooms equipped with dedicated LCD projectors and multimedia teaching kits with computers in the future. The Corporation has allocated Rs 75 lakh in its budget presented at the council hall on Wednesday. "Itis a good initiative as corporation school students will also get a chance tolearn their lessons using computers. Power point and animated presentationscould be used to make children understand concepts," said A Raja Mohammad,Chemistry teacher, SRP Ammaniammal School, Coimbatore. The budgetalso has schemes to install sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators in20 corporation girls higher secondary schools including 14 middle schools at anallocation of Rs 7.5 lakh. "We decided to install these machines toensure that girl students are not forced to abstain from their school lessonsduring their menstruation," said Anshul Mishra, Corporation Commissioner.Students from corporation schools will also be given three pairs offootwear including one pair of canvas shoes. Rs 2 crore have been allocated bythe finance committee in the budget for this. Financial assistance of Rs onecrore will be extended to Saaramedu and Karumbukadai corporation schools forimmediate renovation and maintenance.
