NHAI urged to speed up Hosur flyover work
KRISHNAGIRI: Drivers and others have urged the National Highway Authority of India to speed up construction of a flyover on the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway in Hosur. Work on the flyover in the Sipcot Industrial Estate region, just before Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border, has been progressing at a very sluggish pace for almost two years.Hosur is acknowledged as the 13th fastest growing industrial city in the country. Thousands of vehicles pass through the city daily. It sees frequent traffic jams. To address this problem, flyovers are being constructed at multiple points.

Recently, a section of the 20-year-old flyover near the Hosur bus stand shifted by around one meter and collapsed. "Repair work has been pending for the last two months without any resolution," said V Balakrishnan, a resident. He mentioned that work on a new road from the GRT Circle area to Samathuvapuram on the national highway leading to Bagalur remains unfinished. Due to flyover construction at various locations, the Krishnagiri district police have rerouted heavy vehicles via the Outer Ring Road in Hosur. All vehicles are being redirected for several kilometres from the Dharga area to the Rayakottai Road junction, resulting in inconvenience to passengers."Traffic flow on the Outer Ring Road has been entirely disrupted, with vehicles lined up and waiting for hours on end every day," stated P Jeevanandham, a truck driver from Namakkal who frequently drives through this area.
