UDHAGAMANDALAM: Amidst the controversy raging over the visit of
Tamil Nadu governor
Banwarilal Purohit to Coimbatore and Tirupur and holding meeting with top officials of the districts, an NGO has invited the governor to Nilgiris to lead a ‘Clean Nilgiris’ drive.
In a press release, the director of the NGO Nilgiri Documentation Centre Dharmalingam Venugopal said pro-active governors should be seen as an inspiration for elected governments and executives.
“It is ridiculous to confuse the gubernatorial activism of pro-active governors in civic, environmental and socio-cultural activities with state autonomy issues,” he said.
Playing down the critics, the NDC has invited the governor to the Nilgiris to lead the ‘Clean Nilgiris Drive’. The NGO said besides the administration and police force of the district, many people will rally behind him. tnn
