NEET protesters in Coimbatore ‘send’ pigeon to PM Modi
COIMBATORE: Representatives of the CPM and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest in front of the Sivanandapuram post office in Coimbatore on Saturday against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
As a symbolic gesture, they ‘sent’ (freed) a
D Pandiarajan, a DYFI representative of DYFI, said because of the mental stress caused by NEET, some students in Tamil Nadu had committed suicide, including Jothi Sri Durga in Madurai in the early hours of Saturday.
NEET will be held on Sunday. A total of 10,627 candidates would appear for NEET in Coimbatore. There are 16 exam centres, located on 14 premises.
The centres are located in the city and also in outer regions such as Annur, Mettupalayam, and Pollachi in the district.
