COIMBATORE: J Yasser Arafat, 23, prime accused in the gruesome murder of a 54-year-old woman N Saroja at a service apartment on Avinashi road in the city, was produced before Judicial Magistrate court –III on Friday evening. He has been remanded to judicial custody till March 22. Judicial magistrate A Ramesh Babu, awarded him police custody for six days on March 5 and ordered the police to produce him before the court on February 11 evening.
The police took him to Tirunelveli and seized seven sovereigns of gold ornaments at a private finance firm where Arafat had pledged the gold jewels.
He was grilled for three days and was produced before the court on Friday evening. The court has remanded him to judicial custody till March 22.
