Movie buffs all set for a treat

Udhagamandalam: As part of the bicentennial celebrations of Ooty, the Assembly Rooms Cinema Hall will screen 21 Tamil films, which were shot in the hill town, from May 17 to 23.
“Ooty has always been a paradise for filmmakers. The Ooty-200 celebrations would not be complete without a film festival. So classics like ‘Ooty Varai Uravu’, ‘Kadalikka Neramillai’, ‘Pudhiya Paravai’, ‘Moodu Pani’ and ‘Mullum Malarum’ will be screened,” said D Radhakrishnan, secretary of the cinema hall.
“As the theatre had adopted QUBE technology, we found it difficult to source old Tamil films which could be adaptable to the technology. We received 31 digitalized films and chose to screen 20 films. Unfortunately, ‘Anbe Vaa’ and Shanthi Nilayam’, which were shot in Ooty, are not available,” Radhakrishnan added.
