Unable to run the family on her meager income Padmavathi, 45 attempted to commit suicide along with her family. But, she and her son Karthikeyan, 23, who had also consumed the food were admitted to the Erode government hospital in an unconscious state.
At 5am on Monday, Karthikeyan had phoned his relative N Elango, 34, and informed him of their plan to consume food mixed with poison. Elango rushed to the house and found the door was locked from inside. With the help of neighbours, he broke open the door and found Elango and Vidhya dead.
