Minister condemns Tamilisai for criticizing state government

Tirupur: State information and publicity minister M P Saminathan has hit out at Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan for making political statements criticizing the Tamil Nadu government despite being in a constitutional post in a neighbouring state.
He told reporters in Tirupur on Wednesday that it has become a trend for governors, who are supposed to be neutral, to speak and act in a biased manner. “This is true with governors in states ruled by non–BJP parties. In fact, there seems to be a competition among governors appointed by the BJP government on making political statements,” Saminathan said.
He said Tamilisai’s statements criticising sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks on Sanatana Dharma, sounded more like a political leader than a governor. Governors making such political statements does not augur well for the democracy, he said. Saminathan said the DMK, however, would thwart such threats to democracy arising from the governors.
