Man stabs 21-yr-old wife to death

Tirupur: An Uthukuli resident stabbed his 21-year-old wife to death on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Hafeena Begum, wife of S Nizar Ahmed. “He had married Begum three years ago. They have a two-year old boy. The couple used to quarrel often. Following such an altercation on Sunday, Nizar stabbed Begum several times using a knife. Neighbours who came to her rescue found her dead in a pool of blood. Nizar had slit his throat in the attempt to kill himself,” a police officer said.

Nizar was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical. The couple’s son was handed over to a relative.

The Uthukuli police have registered a murder case against Nizar. Begum’s body was taken to the Tirupur Government Hospital for postmortem. TNN
