The Kovilpalayam police have arrested a 51-year-old man for making a fake bomb threat call on Friday night.

COIMBATORE: The Kovilpalayam police have arrested a 51-year-old man for making a fake bomb threat call on Friday night.
The arrested person was identified as S Sridhar of Kappikadai area at Kovilpalayam. “Sridhar, who is unemployed, tried to buy a bottle of liquor from a Tasmac outlet at Kovilpalayam on Friday around 6.30pm, and offered to pay later.

The employees chased him out. He hurled abuses at them and later had a few drinks in the company of a friend. Around 8.30pm, he contacted the state police master control room in Chennai to threaten to hurl a bomb at the Tasmac shop,” a police officer said.
The control room staff traced the phone number and alerted the Kovilpalayam police.
Police booked Sridhar under sections 294 (b) and 505 (1) (b) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him on Saturday morning. He was remanded in judicial custody.
