Man gets lifer for murdering his father

Coimbatore: A special court in Coimbatore awarded life imprisonment to a man on Tuesday for murdering his father. The Saravanampatti police arrested K Kumaravel, 35, from Murugan Nagar, for murdering his father Krishnan, 65, a private security guard, in 2019.On September 3, 2019, Kumaravel demanded money from his father to buy liquor. When he refused, Kumaravel beat up his father with a wooden log. “Krishnan suffered head injuries and was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. He died without responding to the treatment on September 9,” said a police officer. The case trial was held before the special court and special public prosecutor K Karthikeyan appeared on half of the victim. Judge S Sashirekha pronounced the verdict on Tuesday and awarded life imprisonment to Kumaravel. The court also slapped a fine of 5,000 to Kumaravel. tnn
