A 38-year-old man, who murdered his

wife

in 2010, was sentenced to

life imprisonment

by the fifth additional district judge (

ADJ-V

) court here on Tuesday.

Kavitha Bharathi, 30, from Samichettipalayam near Thudiyalur married S Arulvel, 38, of Sivasakthi Nagar in Periyanaickenpalayam in 2009. While Arulvel worked in a private firm, Kavitha attended tailoring classes.

Her husband suspected she was flirting with other men in her class and they often argued over this. Unable to bear his torture, Kavitha returned to her parent's home. The case trial was held at the ADJ-V court and the court found Arulvel guilty. The judge MN Senthilkumar, sentenced Arulvel to life and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000.
