Man dies in Coimbatore house collapse amid heavy rainfall

COIMBATORE: A 48-year-old man died after a portion of a wall at his house collapsed on him at Kangeyampalayam near Sulur in Coimbatore district early on Friday.


The deceased was identified as P Shankar Ganesh, 48 from Madurai's Veeran Kovil Street. He was working at the house keeping section of at private hospital at Neelambur.

Police said, Shankar Ganesh was residing in the house along with his wife S Jothimani, 42, who was working at the house keeping section at a private college at Sulur.

Due to the incessant rain in the last four days, a portion of the wall at his house became weak and collapsed on him between 2.30am and 3am. His wife alerted the neighbours who removed the debris and found Shankar Ganesh's body.

They alerted the Sulur police who rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Government Medical College and ESI hospital at Varadharajapuram near Singanallur for post-mortem.
