COIMBATORE: Police are on the lookout for a man, who used boulders to break open an ATM machine and a passbook entry machine of the State Bank Of India on Trichy Road at Singanallur and an ATM machine belonging to the City Union Bank on SIHS Colony Road on Thursday.
The man had entered the ATM centre at Singanallur around 12.30am. “Using a boulder, he damaged the monitor of the ATM machine and attempted to break open the cash compartment.
He later damaged the passbook entry machine,” a police officer said.
A few minutes later, he left the place for the ATM centre belonging to the City Union Bank and destroyed the machine using a boulder. “Both the ATM centres were unmanned. Locals had informed Singanallur police about the incidents. We have collected CCTV footage from the centres and have formed a special team to nab him,” deputy commissioner of police P Perumal said.
