Man, daughter die in road accident near Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 63-year-man and his daughter were fatally run over by a TNSTC (Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation) bus at Kurumbanur in Coimbatore district on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as P Subbannan of Kaveri Amman Colony at Kurumbanur and his daughter S Sarojini, 46, of Panchu Kattuputhur near Kittampalayam in Karamadai. Sarojini’s son, Madan Kumar, 23, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Subbannan, Sarojini and Madan Kumar were labourers.They were returning home on a motorcycle after work. Madan Kumar was riding the motorcycle. When they reached near Indira Nagar, a speeding bus heading towards Karamadai from Mettupalayam rammed the motorcycle. Subbannan and Saroja, who were riding pillion, fell on the right side and came under the wheels of the bus. Subbannan died on the spot. Saroja was rushed to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Madan Kumar fell on the left side and escaped with minor injuries.
The Mettupalayam police registered a case against the bus driver Prakash Babu, 40, of Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris district.
