COIMBATORE: The Kuniyamuthur police on Thursday arrested a man on charges of peddling ganja to students and others in the city. The arrested man has been identified as A Murugesan, 52, of Kariyannan Gounder Street at Kuniyamuthur.
A police team patrolling near Edayarpalayam on Thursday morning found a man standing suspiciously near the Mariamman temple. Police found 2.630 kg of ganja in a bag he was holding. During interrogations, he told police that he had procured ganja from other states and sold it to people, including college students.
Police booked him sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. He was remanded in judicial custody.
