Man arrested for attempting to murder wife's paramour in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for attempting to murder his wife’s paramour near Saravanampatti in Coimbatore.

According to police sources, Siva, 27, of Manapparai in Trichy district, was staying with friends in HUDCO Colony and working as a tea master at a bakery in Gandhima Nagar. Kavitha, 32, wife of Sudhakar, 36, of Keeranatham, was running a tailoring shop near the shop, police said.

Siva and Kavitha became friends, and their relationship allegedly developed into an affair. They have been close for the past two years. Sudhakar came to know about this and confronted them. However, they allegedly ignored his objections.

On Tuesday, Siva, who was under the influence of alcohol, was speaking to Kavitha at her shop when Sudhakar arrived there and got into an argument with him. Onlookers intervened, pacified them and sent both men away.

Later, after finishing work, Siva was waiting to return to his room when Sudhakar approached him again. A quarrel ensued, during which Sudhakar took out a knife, stabbed Siva and fled the scene.
Siva managed to call his friend Yuvaraj, who rushed to the spot, rescued him, and took him to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Siva filed a complaint at the Saravanampatti police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Sudhakar on Wednesday.
