Coimbatore: Two girls, both daughters of a special sub-inspector (SSI) of police, were crushed to death by a concrete mixer vehicle when they were travelling in a scooter along with their father near a private matriculation school on Madukkarai Market Road here on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as J Indupriya, 21, who was pursuing BE (electrical and electronics) and her younger sister J Pooja, 19, who was studying third year at a private Ayurveda medical college at KG Chavadi.
The injured SSI has been identified as V Jayaprakash, 50, from KG Chavadi. He was attached to the district crime branch (DCB) police.
On Monday morning, Jayaprakash and his two daughters were travelling towards Pass Seva Kendra on Avinashi Road from KG Chavadi in a scooter. When Jayaprakash tried to overtake a concrete mixer truck near a private matriculation school on Madukkarai Market Road, the truck driver suddenly took a right turn. Jayaprakash lost control over the scooter and rammed the truck. The trio fell on the road andthe girls came under the wheels of the truck.
