Kodanad case: SIT summons Jayalalithaa’s disowned foster son for inquiry
Coimbatore: The special investigation team (SIT) of the Crime Branch-CID investigating the Kodanad heist cum murder case on Tuesday summoned former chief minister the late J Jayalalithaa's disowned foster son V N Sudhakaran for an inquiry on Thursday (March 27). He is going to be questioned by the SIT for the first time. Those arrested in the case had last year filed a petition before the Madras high court, stating they had suspicions about several people. The court had subsequently directed the SIT to conduct an inquiry with 18 people. As part of the court direction, Kodanad case investigation officer Murugavel issued summons to Sudhakaran on Tuesday, asking him to appear before them on Thursday for an inquiry.According to an official source, Sudhakaran was one of the former shareholders of the Kodanad estate bungalow. "Officials are planning to question him about whether crores of rupees or valuables were kept in the bungalow." The special investigation team has held inquiries with more than 200 people in connection with the case.Om Bahadur Thapa, a Nepal national who was a security guard at Kodanad Estate near Kotagiri, was murdered by an 11-member gang at gate number 10 in the early hours of April 24, 2017. The gang had also assaulted another security guard, Krishna Bahadur Thapa, of Nepal, at gate number eight and burgled the Kodanad bungalow. Police have arrested 10 accused in the case.
