Kodanad case: Dhanapal hospitalised with chest pain

Coimbatore: C Dhanapal, the younger brother of Kanagaraj who worked as a driver for former chief minister J Jayalalithaa and died in a road accident, developed sudden chest pain on Saturday and was admitted to the Salem government hospital for treatment.
He had recently appeared before the special investigation team of the CB-CID in connection with the Kodanad heist cum murder case and returned to his hometown in Salem.On Saturday morning, he developed sudden chest pain after which his family rushed him to the hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
Sources said Dhanapal was arrested by the Salem police a few months ago in connection with a land grabbing case, before being released on conditional bail. He had developed chest pain due to a block and underwent angioplasty when he was in jail. Earlier in 2021, he was arrested for destroying evidence in connection with the Kodanad case.
Dhanapal had appeared before the investigating officer Murugavel at the office of the CB-CID at Gandhipuram here on Sptember 14 and was let off the same evening, following an inquiry. He told media persons that more than 50 people, including prominent figures from the AIADMK and police personnel from the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur and Salem districts had links to the Kodanad case.

C Dhanapal, the brother of Kanagaraj, a key suspect in the Kodanad heist-cum-murder case, appeared before a special investigation team (SIT) in Coimbatore. AIADMK district secretary R Elangovan has filed a petition against C Dhanapal, the brother of Jayalalithaas driver Kanagaraj, who was involved in the Kodanad murder cum heist case and died in an accident. Elangovan accused Dhanapal of providing false information against AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami in relation to the case. Elangovan claimed that Dhanapal is mentally ill and had submitted a medical certificate to prove it. He stated that all the information given by Dhanapal regarding the Kodanad case was untrue.

Vijayalakshmi case: Seeman fails to appear before police
Actor-politician Seeman, who is facing sexual harassment charges filed by actor Vijayalakshmi in 2011, did not appear before the Valasaravakkam police as summoned. He had initially agreed to appear on Tuesday but his counsel submitted a letter stating that he could not make it without giving a reason. Vijayalakshmi had also filed a separate complaint against Seeman, accusing him of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation among other charges. She had recorded her statements against him in a Tiruvallur court on September 1.
