Krishnagiri: Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh were stolen from a Mariamman temple at Jargalatti near Krishnagiri on Friday night.On Saturday morning, a resident found the lock of the temple broken and alerted other villagers. They informed the Denkanikottai police. Police entered the temple in the presence of the priest and found ornaments adorning the deity missing.“The stolen ornaments include thalis, pendants, coins, thali shells and a silver crown. The total worth of the stolen ornaments is Rs 7 lakh,” a police officer said.Police registered a case and began investigations.
