Human forearm found on private firm campus near Coimbatore; cops say it belonged to a man who attempted suicide
COIMBATORE: A human forehand was found on the campus of a private firm near Kallapalayam in Coimbatore district on Friday morning. Inquiries revealed that it was the right forehand of a man who tried to end his life by jumping in front of a speeding train and got his right hand and right leg amputated in his failed suicide bid. Police said a dog might have brought the forehand to the campus of the private firm at the Codissia Industrial Park near Kallapalayam. On Friday morning, a worker found the forehand near a storeroom. He informed his manager, Vairavanathan, about it. Vairavanathan visited the spot and alerted the firm’s owner, who in turn alerted the Sulur police and lodged a complaint. The police rushed to the spot, retrieved the forehand and began investigations. A police officer said Azhagu Raja Pandi, 37, of Tirupur attempted suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Vanjipalayam railway gate on Monday. The right hand and the right leg of Pandi were amputated. Locals rescued and sent him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. However, the doctors were unable to fix his hand and leg. The hand and leg were sent to a bio medical waste management centre, located nearly one kilometre away from the firm where the hand was found, the officer said. A dog might have taken the forearm from the waste management centre and dropped it on the firm’s campus, he added. After inquiries, the forearm was handed over to the waste management centre, he added.
