History-sheeter hacked to death by six-member gang
Salem: A 46-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death by a six-member gang near Karipatty here on Sunday night. Police said R Anandhan, of Kattur near Valasaiyur, was accused in more than 10 criminal cases, including murder, abduction and robbery. Around 10pm on Sunday, Anandhan was returning from his relative’s house on a bike with his friend Prabhakaran, 24, said a police officer. “When they neared the outskirts of their village, a six-member gang waylaid the bike and tried to attack Anandhan with sickles. Anandhan and Prabhakaran ditched the bike and tried to escape on foot. The gang members chased Anandhan, while ignoring Prabhakaran. They caught him and hacked him to death. Subsequently, gang members escaped from the spot in a car.”After being alerted, the Karipatty police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry.
