in the early hours of Monday due to an issue over collecting donations for celebrating Krishna Jayanthi.

Based on a complaint lodged by

VHP

functionary N Vasanth’s mother N Thangapushbam, the Uthukuli police booked more than 30 Hindu Munnani members, including ‘B Tex’ Bhaskar, Chandrasekar, Dinesh Devar, Rajasekar, Pavan Raj and Anand.

Thangapushbam submitted a CCTV footage evidence, in which five people are seen attacking the gate of the house at SV Pudur in Mudhalipalayam around 1am on Monday.

Vasanth had gone for night duty, and Thangapushbam and Vasanth’s wife and his two-month-old baby were sleeping in the house.

The accused attacked the gate and damaged a CCTV camera before issuing life threat to the family, said a police officer.

Vasanth,36, was one of the four VHP members who were booked for attacking a shopkeeper at on Sunday afternoon after the latter had refused to give donation for celebrating Krishna Jayanthi.

A police officer said, “There was rivalry between Hindu Munnani and VHP workers over collecting donations. An informal complaint has come that Vasanth and his accomplices attacked Hindu Munnani member Rajaguru the same day.”
