COIMBATORE: A goldsmith has been booked for duping a businessman of 211g gold bar.
The Big Bazaar Street (crime) police said they have registered a case against Ravikumar based on a complaint lodged by 57-year-old S Ramasamy, a gold merchant from Kempatti Colony.
“Ramasamy used to give gold bars to goldsmiths for making ornaments. In August 2018, he had given 211g gold bars to Ravikumar.
But Ravikumar didn't make gold ornaments. When Ramasamy approached him a few months later to reclaim the gold bars, he feigned ignorance of the same and threatened the gold merchant with dire consequences,” a police officer said.
More than one and half years later, Ramsamy lodged a complaint with the Big Bazaar Street police, who registered a case against Ravikumar under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 506(i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
