Girl, 16, dies after LPG tanker truck runs over her in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A 16-year-old girl died after an LPG tanker truck ran over her while she was sitting in front of her house near KG Chavadi in Coimbatore district on Sunday evening.The deceased has been identified as C Srinithi, of TAHDCO Colony near KG Chavadi. She was a Class XI student at a government school in Kuniyamuthur."Srinithi was sitting outside her house when the speeding tanker truck ran over her, killing her on the spot," said a police officer. Police recovered the body and sent it to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a postmortem. Meanwhile, locals blocked the KG Chavadi Road and staged a protest over the reckless driving in a residential area. A case has been registered, and police are investigating if the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Protesters later dispersed after police assured residents that steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
