Four youths from Kerala arrested for stealing goats

TIRUPUR: The district rural police have booked four youths from Kerala for restraining a sub-inspector of police from discharging his duties during vehicle check in Udumalpet.
The youths were travelling in a car with Kerala registration while they were stopped at Saminathapuram check post near Palani in Dindigul district by the police during vehicle check on Wednesday evening.

A police officer said, “But the youths didn’t stop the car and sped off from the spot. We immediately alerted other check posts, including in Tirupur.”
Sub-inspector Raghupathy spotted the car at Dhali Road signal in Udumalpet. When Raghupathy tried to stop the car, the driver hit him and sped away. However, the car was stopped after a heavy chasing by the police patrol, said the officer.
Premjith, 27, Sunesh, 28, Jeenigos, 23 and Mijojon, 24, all from Thrissur, were travelling in the car. There were three goats in the boot of the car, two of them found dead. “We suspect that the youths would have stolen the goats in Dharapuram,” the officer said. The Udumalpet police have registered a case for rash driving and causing injuries to Raghupathy, who was admitted in a hospital later. The youths were also booked for restraining Raghupathy from discharging his duty. Meanwhile, the Dharapuram police booked them for stealing goats.
