SALEM: The directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (

) on Thursday registered a first information report (

) against four Tamil Nadu slum clearance board (

) engineers for swindling Rs 14.7 lakh by allocating houses to seven ineligible people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.

According to an official from the Salem district DVAC, TNSCB executive engineer R Ravikumar, assistant executive engineer Jayanthi Mala, assistant engineers S Saravanan and R Srinivasan had swindled Rs 14.7 lakh by forging documents to swindle funds in 2017-18 and 2018-19 financial year under the scheme. The seven people were Duraisamy, Vetrivel of Mallamooppampatty,

Radhakrishnan of Amani Iyamperumampatty

, Sivakumar of Karungalpatty, Bakkiyam, Mallika and Rosalin of Salem city.

“The four engineers enclosed bogus documents of these seven people in government records and swindled money,” the DVAC official said.

The DVAC is in the process of initiating further inquiry with these four engineers after getting the consent of the department concerned.
