COIMBATORE: Officials of the national highways (NH) wing of the state highways promised to complete the flyover work at GN Mills by June 15 and the flyover at Periyanaickenpalayam within three months.

The 658-metre-long flyover at GN Mills begins from Vellakinar Pirivu and ends near the government ITI on Mettupalayam Road. A service road will be constructed at GN Mills soon, Coimbatore collector Kranthi Kumar Pati said.

Meanwhile, superintending engineer Arulmozhi from Nabard, and rural roads, Salem, divisional engineer (DE) Saravanaselvan from highways construction and maintenance in Pollachi, and assistant divisional engineers and assistant engineers inspected the flyover on Wednesday for internal audit.

“Bitumen laying work on the flyover at GN Mills will be completed soon. It will be opened to the public next month,” said an official.

The NH wing started construction of the 17.2-metre wide, 1.850km long flyover from Vidyalaya to Vannankovil stretch on Mettupalayam Road at Periyanaickenpalayam in December 2020. “NH officials will complete the construction in August. I have been monitoring the works, which have been speeded up,” the collector added.
