COIMBATORE: The CB-CID on Wednesday arrested five more hired goons in connection with the Chennai Hospital ransacking case.

Meanwhile, advocate SP Rajendran, who was also involved in the case, filed an anticipatory bail petition before the Madras high court on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as R Palanisamy, 40, from Rathinapuri, S Jaihar, 40, Purushothaman, 45, both from Sivananda Colony, A Vincent Sanjay, 39, from Gandhipuram, and A Suresh Babu alias Auto Babu, 46, from Vellalore.

Police said they were hired goons and brought to the Chennai Hospital by a henchman, Murthy, 45, of Mani Nagar at Rathinapuri.

The arrested hired goons were produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court on Wednesday evening and remanded in judicial custody. They were lodged at the Coimbatore central prison.

Police sources said Rajendran’s petition will come up for hearing on Friday. The CB-CID will file its counter reply against the petition.

The CB-CID had already arrested Dr P Ramachandran, 75, his associate Dr Kamaraj, Murthy, Dr Ramachandran’s personal assistant Murugesh, 47, and his car driver Palanisamy in connection with the case.
