Father of newborn baby among three arrested for attacking doctors in Hosur hospital

KRISHNAGIRI: The Hosur police on Thursday arrested three men on charges of assaulting and verbally abusing doctors and a medical staff member in a private hospital.

Police said Swathi, 20, of Bagepalli gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday night. Her husband, S Naveen Kumar,27, arrived in the hospital in an inebriated condition around midnight to see Swathi and the newborn. "The hospital staff members denied him access to the child, advising him to return in the morning as it was late," an officer at the Hosur police station said.

Naveen Kumar engaged in a heated argument with the hospital staff members. He verbally abused Dr Ram Prabhakar and a medical staff member. He then allegedly assaulted the doctor.

Naveen Kumar left the hospital, only to return with his friends and start another confrontation. They allegedly assaulted hospital managing director Dr Akshaya Ram. The doctors filed a complaint with the Hosur police.

The police launched an investigation and arrested Naveen Kumar and his friends S Amresh, 26, of U Puram and S Vignesh, 28, of Therpettai. They were remanded in judicial custody.
