Coimbatore: The district chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization gave away Global Student Entrepreneur Awards to the winners at a function that was organized in the city on Saturday.
While Surya Varshan, founder of Naked Nature, secured the first prize, Smrithi, founder of Shikha creations, came second beating 75 other contestants.
Surya received a cash prize of 1 lakh and Smrithi, 50,000.
The event organizers said the national level final would be conducted at Vizagapatam on February 22.
Global finals would take place in the US.
Addressing the event, Sivarajah Ramanathan, CEO, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, called on various stakeholders to help the state government create 10,000 startups in the next three years and put the state on the global map.
He appealed the industrial bodies and forums, which are into motivating entrepreneurship, to create an ecosystem to encourage entrepreneurship among the youths.
“Students should be encouraged into entrepreneurship while studying in colleges, so that they can start a venture when they come out of the institutions.”
