Duo take to biking to connect with organic farmers
COIMBATORE: A radio jockey and an NRI software engineer from New Jersey, have come together because of their passion for biking, movies and natural farming. After a frugal breakfast on Monday morning, V Deepan and R Muthukumar will get on their bullet and chart out a network of organic farmers across the country. A documentary about the people and locales they visit during the trip, from the hinterlands of Tamil Nadu to the snow clad peaks of Ladakh, will be later compiled into a video documentary.

"After finishing college and gaining more experience, we decided to set out and explore the country with a specific purpose. We had to quit our work as we could not juggle work and passion together," said Deepan, a former jockey with a reputed radio station.
They have already prepared a basic travel plan to cover the entire distance. As per their schedule, they will be back in Coimbatore only by 2013 August. They are planning to touch Kanyakumari and then enter Kerala through Marthandam, proceed towards Karnataka into Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and then towards the east and later return home right here in
Coimbatore.
Both of them are also carrying all necessary equipment and accessories needed during the trip. They have also modified their bullet and spent 80,000 on the vehicle. They will halt at various points and set up tent which will be their accommodation for the entire trip. They are expected to cover a total distance of over 20,000 km and also reach Leh at an altitude of over 8,000 metres above sea level.
However their families are yet to completely decipher the motivation and idea behind the biking expedition. Deepan is married and claims that his wife Vinitha is the only person backing him at the moment. "She is also my sponsor since I have quit my job," Deepan added.
