Drunk man stabs wife to death in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A drunk man stabbed his wife to death during an argument at their home near Ramanathapuram here on Saturday. Police arrested the man, identified as J Jayachandran of Church Street in Ramanathapuram. He is a retired private firm employee.Police said Jayachandran was addicted to alcohol and often returned home drunk, leading to frequent quarrels with his wife, Tamilselvi, 51. The couple have a son and a married daughter.On Saturday, after consuming alcohol, Jayachandran brought biryani home for lunch. The couple and their son, Sriram, ate it. After lunch, Sriram left for work.Around 3pm, an argument broke out between Jayachandran and Tamilselvi. Police said Jayachandran took a kitchen knife and stabbed Tamilselvi in the abdomen. She collapsed and died.Jayachandran called Sriram over the phone and asked him to return home immediately. When Sriram arrived, he found his mother lying in a pool of blood.Ramanathapuram police sent the body to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Jayachandran was remanded in judicial custody.
