Drunk man murders wife near Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: The
The arrested man has been identified as P Murugesh, 50, of Arivozhi Nagar Kuttai. He was a drunkard. Murugesh murdered his wife Parvathi whom he married 10 years go. It was his second marriage.
He often suspected Parvathi’s character and picked up a quarrel with her. On Thursday night, he returned home in an inebriated condition and fought with her. He assaulted her with a log and a small iron pipe. She suffered injuries on her head, hands and legs. She died on the spot.
Neighbours caught Murugesh and alerted Mettupalayam police who reached the spot in the early hours of Friday. The police sent the body to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for postmortem.
The police registered a case against Murugesh under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.
Murugesh has two daughters, aged 20 and 17 years, from his first marriage. His first wife Kanniammal had separated from him and married another man. She died three years ago due to some illnesses.
