Doctors, staff nurses and others recruited for 19 health and wellness centres in Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: A total of 76 people, including doctors, staff nurses, health inspectors and housekeepers, have been recruited to the 19 newly constructed health and wellness centres (HWC) under the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.
They have been hired on a contract basis. The terms and conditions for the application stated that the applicants should attach an expression of interest and an agreement for a period of 11 months. All the postings were based on age criteria as below 35, 40, 45, and 50 for health inspectors grade 2, doctors, hospital workers and staff nurses, respectively.
City health officer A Mohan said the newly appointed medical staff members would undergo a training programme for 10 days in Salem.
A total of 23 new HWCs have been constructed in Coimbatore district. Besides the 19 HWCs in the city, Valparai got two and Gudalur municipality and Karumathampatti got one each. All these newly constructed centres are likely to be inaugurated next month.
In the city, a few locations where the new HWCs are constructed include Ganapathy Maanagar, Townhall, Olumbus, Kovilmedu and Pappanaickenpalayam.
Meanwhile, the corporation has notified a few vacancies in the existing urban health centres for the post of staff nurses and pharmacists. After a series of scrutiny, the postings are expected to be filled by next month.
The other vacancies across the district include those of auxiliary nurse midwives, optometrist, senior lab technicians, cleaner and reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health (RMNCH) counsellors.
