DMK alliance will win over 200 seats: Tamil Nadu Congress chief
Coimbatore: TN Congress chief K Selvaperunthagai on Saturday expressed confidence that DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance would secure more than 200 seats in the Tamil Nadu assembly election.Speaking to reporters at the city airport, he said the opinion polls suggesting around 145 seats for DMK alliance were an attempt to impose a narrative. On a query about Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, he said discussions could be held after the results are out. Selvaperunthagai said leaders across the alliance were united and confident that their efforts, including campaigns by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, along with the chief minister's outreach, would not go in vain. "People are clear about their choice." Responding to a question on rising LPG prices, he said BJP govt at the Centre was in the habit of hiking fuel prices after every election and that voters were aware of the same. On criticism over state leadership, he dismissed it as "emotional reactions". He said the Congress had improved its tally from 25 seats to 28 this time and secured an additional Rajya Sabha seat, questioning claims of decline.
