Coimbatore: Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu along with Tamil Nadu chief electoral officer Archana Patnaik held a review meeting at the Coimbatore district collectorate on Monday, ahead of the April 23 assembly election in the state.
Officials from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris, Erode, and Namakkal attended the review meeting.
The review meeting was attended by the election observers, police observers, election expenditure observers, district election officers/district collectors, city police commissioner and district superintendents of police from the five districts.
The meeting discussed the preparations for the election, security arrangements, basic facilities set up at polling stations, control room, vehicle/campaign permits, postal votes, and its facilities. Training for polling officers will be conducted on election work and materials to be used on polling day. The meeting also discussed about the steps to be taken to resolve complaints regarding violations of the election code of conduct, wheelchairs, and social media monitoring.
Furthermore, all officers were instructed to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission and take appropriate measures to conduct the election smoothly.
